Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Alireza Haghighian Sunday paid a farewell call on Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The Iranian envoy, in his discussion with the minister, called for efforts from both the countries to enhance trade and economic cooperation and bring it at par with their overall friendly ties, said a press release.
Referred to the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Iran, he said economic activities between the two countries had since gained momentum, which should be maintained.
He said Iran eagerly looked forward to holding of the 20th Pak-Iran Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting in Tehran. He also proposed holding a meeting to review the implementation status of decisions taken in the 19th JEC meeting.
He appreciated Dar's invaluable contribution in holding the 19th JEC meeting in Islamabad last year.
The minister appreciated the Iranian Ambassador's standpoint on bilateral economic cooperation. He lauded the ambassador's services for strengthening Pak-Iran relations in all spheres during his tenure in Pakistan. He wished Ali Haghighian all the success in his future diplomatic assignments. Senior finance ministry officials were also present in the meeting.
