New US Ambassador to Pakistan Hale arrives

The new US Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale arrived here on Wednesday to take charge of his assignment. the Obama administration gave approval to the appointment of David Hale as the new US ambassador to Pakistan earlier in March David Hale is replacing Richard Olson, who has also been appointed as the US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP). Ambassador Olson assumed his responsibilities as SRAP on November 17.
According to a statement issued by US Embassy, Ambassador Hale will present his credentials to President Mamnoon Hussain at the earliest opportunity. David Hale is a senior career member of Foreign Service with the rank of Career Minister. He served as ambassador to the Lebanese Republic from 2013 to 2015.
Previously, he was the Special Envoy for Middle East Peace (2011-2013), Deputy Special Envoy for Middle East Peace (2009-11), and American Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (2005-8). He also served in Tunisia, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and at the US Mission to the United Nations. In Washington, Ambassador Hale was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Israel, Egypt and the Levant Director for Israel and Palestinian Affairs, and Executive Assistant to Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
