Students of Dawood Public School and students from different government schools around Karachi gave a warm and enthusiastic welcome to Tracey Curtis-Taylor solo biplane pilot, when she visited the Dawood Public School this morning. The students regard Tracey as an inspiration and were eager to meet her and Pakistan's own national hero, Samina Baig, during her short visit to Karachi, Pakistan.
As Tracey Curtis was visiting Pakistan for a short 2 day span on her 14 week long journey, the students dressed in traditional clothing representing all the provinces of the nation to give her a feel of Pakistan's diversity. The energetic youngsters, some of whom were wearing fully constructed airplane models, put up a colourful dance performance for Tracey who was accompanied by Prince Nikolaos of Greece, combined with dhol music, upon their arrival and celebrated by not only speaking with her but by presenting her with tokens of appreciation and best wishes for her travels ahead.
The students kept the spirits high and the air was buzzing with electric excitement as not only Tracey Curtis spoke with them but Samina Baig, Pakistan's very own symbol of women empowerment addressed them. Interacting with the students at Dawood Public School, Samina Baig said: "I am overjoyed to be standing here in front of all of you today and to have the chance to meet Tracey Curtis. I want each of you to know that you can make your mark in the world if you set your hearts and minds to it. Don't let anyone stop you from achieving what you set out to do in your journey in life."
