Represen-tatives of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) have urged the government to provide the protection to doctor community and detain culprits involved in the killing of doctors in the country.
Leaders of the PMA, Dr Iqbal Haroon, Dr Ayub, Dr Rafiq ul Hassan Khokhar, Dr Agha Taj and others said this while speaking a press conference at Hyderabad Press Club on Sunday. "Senior Doctor, Anwer Laghari was gunned down by terrorists on November 19," they said while condemning the killing. Despite passing four day, the murders have not been arrested so far which has created discontent and fear among the doctors community, they said.
Besides, kidnapping of doctors has also witnessed a rise and in addition to this, various other kinds of threats are being faced by doctors on the daily-basis, they claimed.
Moreover, the daughter of Dr Laghari should be transferred from Balochistan Medical College to Sindh Medical College to protect her life, they said.
They demanded the government to develop the proper mechanism for the protection to doctors so that they could perform their duties with peaceful mind.
