The Karachi Port handled 84,125 tonnes of cargo comprising 69,015 tonnes of import cargo and 15,110 tonnes of export cargo including 3,528 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 69,015 tonnes comprised of 25,220 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,938 tonnes of general cargo; 11,408 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,500 tonnes of coal; 5,514 tonnes of DAP; 2,394 tonnes of SB meal and 25,449 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 15,110 tonnes comprised of 14,130 tonnes of containerised cargo; 280 tonnes of general cargo and 700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,528 containers comprising of 1,977 containers import and 1,551 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 515 of 20's and 728 of 40's loaded while 6 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 322 of 20's and 329 of 40's loaded containers while 31 of 20's and 270 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Sima Prestige, X-Press Kailash, APL Cyprine, Nord Innovation, Ikan Jubal, Mandarin Ocean and Bedford Castle carrying containers, oil tanker, fertiliser and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. YM Express, Marilee, Stolt Spray, Densa Puma, Ikan Seligi, V Jarger and Han Li carrying containers, oil tankers, fertiliser, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Mari Ugland carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea on Wednesday while two ships namely YM Express and Ikan Seligi carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were three vessels viz. MOL Dedication, Afra Oak and DL Violet carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while six vessels viz. Robert Rickmers, Xin Nan Tong, Royal Castle-7, Ricarda, Ping An Song and Hong Prosperity carrying containers, chemical, steel and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
