Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), General Raheel Sharif said on Friday Pakistan was committed to meet emerging challenges of peacekeeping operations and continued to uphold United Nations (UN) and Pakistani flag fluttering high. "Pakistan is proud of its historic, current role as major troop contributor, takes it as obligation to participate in international peace and security," he said while visiting and spending whole day with Pakistan Army contingent deployed under UN flag in Ivory Coast, DG ISPR tweeted.
The CoAS said being one of leading troop contributors, Pakistan currently deployed on six UN missions, despite ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb and Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs). General Raheel Sharif paid tributes to officers and men for professionalism, commitment to bring stability, promoting peace for a secure world under UN. The CoAS acknowledged sacrifices of Pakistani troops in peace keeping operations. The CoAS said, "Our troops proving their mettle on peacekeeping operations also. Ivory Coast President paid rich tributes to the excellent performance of Pakistani troops."
