Turning the Federal Capital into a model city of the country, through enhancement in the green character, improvement of road infrastructure, up-gradation of civic amenities along with the execution of an effective internal accountability system in the Capital Development Authority (CDA), is the one of the main objectives of Capital Administration and Development Division (CAAD).
This was stated by Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CAAD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry during a briefing held at Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters, here on Friday. He said that a one year comprehensive action plan would be formulated which will bring better results in the future. He highlighted the interest of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the development of Islamabad. The meeting was attended by the members of the CDA Board and other senior officers of the Authority.
On the occasion, Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed briefed the State Minister that CDA has initiated many significant and mega projects in the city aiming at providing the basic facilities in the city, while envisaging many other requirements which would be fulfilled in near future.
While briefing about the functions and development projects of the CDA, he apprised that the authority management has not only initiated new projects in the city but also started development work in the sectors and on those projects which remained stalled for many years. He apprised that CDA has marked the current fiscal year a year of development activities.
He further informed the State Minister that in addition to the completion of Kashmir Highway project, construction of citizen facilitation centres, under-passes on major and busy avenues and construction of parking plazas in the city, momentum of the development activities at Park Enclave Housing Project, sector I-11 and on other projects has been increased remarkably.
He said in order to improve the travelling facilities and an easy access to the metro bus stations, CDA has planned to launch feeder busses in the city whereas up-gradation and maintenance work on the water filtration plants is also in final stages. He further briefed that CDA has also started a phase-wise project of replacement of conventional street lights of the city with LED lights in order to make Capital city a city of lights.
Member Administration further briefed that on the directions of Prime Minister of Pakistan, development work on the first phase of Expressway Signal Free Corridor project would be completed one month prior to the completion deadline. He further informed that in order to ensure transparency in the balloting procedures and other land matters modern techniques are being adopted and in this connection National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has prepared error proof software which will facilitate the transparent balloting in future.
State Minister for CAAD, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that in all development projects, special focus would be given to the suggestions of the residents. He said that an effective internal accountability system in the Authority would be introduced to discourage corrupt elements and encourage the honest and dedicated officers of the Authority. Chaudhry further said that to provide clean drinking water and other facilities in the city, all formations of the authority would be mobilised.
