The minister of state for national health services, regulation and co-ordination Saturday announced that with his government now focusing on the health sector, the PM's Health Insurance Scheme will be launched in December to help the poor. Minister Saira Afzal Tarar's announcement came Saturday when she talked to the media after addressing an opening ceremony of the American Heart Association Roll Out 2015 at the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.
She said, "This scheme is one of its kinds in the social sector and will have far-reaching ramifications in providing medical facilities to the masses. The poor will get benefit from social sector initiatives." In response to a question about the elections, she answered, "The trust of people in the government during the Local Government elections was because of its public welfare-oriented policies. The government has initiated several projects aimed at the public welfare." When asked about lady health workers' training, she replied, "If we want to increase the Universal Health Coverage, their training is vital."
