Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai is not only poet but also a great saint of Sindh. He said this while speaking to media on the occasion of concluding ceremony of 3-day 272-Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai held at Bhitshah on Sunday.
"Great poet has preserved culture and existence of Sindh in his poetry which would live forever," he said.
He said that his message promotes peace, harmony and tolerance across the world and helps us eradicate extremism and terrorism forever.
The sitting government in Sindh is making all efforts to promote the teachings and message of Shah across the world so that hate and intolerance could be eliminated from the world, the chief minister said, urging to follow his message in wake of prevailing situation.
It is also message of Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) and Sindh government, which are promoting peace and tolerance in the society, Shah claimed.
Keeping in view the visions of Shaheed Zulfiqar Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Chairman PPP and on the directions of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairman Asif Zardari, the Sindh government is serving the people of province, he added.
The Sindh government is making all possible efforts to eradicate poverty and unemployment from the province and besides promoting better education in the province, Shah said.
Despite various issues in the province, the PPP has made clean-sweep in 2nd phase of the local bodies' elections held in Sindh province and it was the trust and support of people who still love party and its leadership, he said.
"With support of the federal government and Rangers, we have succeeded in restoring peace in the province especially Karachi. If peace prevails in the province, it would bring socio-economic development in province and country as well," he maintained.
Besides, strict actions are being taken against corruption and people involved in such activities in the province, he asserted.
The atmosphere of fear in Karachi has been vanished and people are living with peace, he added.
The Sindh government is working for the welfare of farmers and growers where the better support prices would be announced to support their crops which would bring better change in their socio-economic conditions in the province, Shah said.
It was a big challenge to set up new Sufi University at Bhitshah but the PPP-led government made it possible and the plots would be allotted for establishing the extensions of university here, he added.
He further said that a hospital had been set up for people of Bhitshah and more funds would be provided for better services to local people.
He said that all possible efforts would be made to ensure supply of safe drinking water to people of Bhitshah and in addition to this, development works would be carried at different areas of Bhitshah including Karar Lake.
He said that in the next phase of local bodies' elections in Sindh province, the PPP would win with majority and moreover, the PPP would also win elections from four UCs of Badin where the elections were suspended.
The PPP is only party which believes in free, fair and transparent elections in the province, he said.
Earlier, he laid a floral wreath on Shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai and offered Fateha and distributed clothes among the poor.
Advisor to Chief Minister on Culture Sharmila Farooqui, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Auqaf Senator Dr Abdul Qayoom Soomro, Secretary Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Commissioner Hyderabad, Deputy Commissioners Hyderabad and Matiari, others officials and local PPP leadership were also present on the occasion.
