Paying tributes to the martyrs of the Army Public School Peshawar, the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said the sacrifices rendered by the innocent students and teachers will be written in golden words adding that the tragedy of APS has united the entire nation against the wave of militancy and menace of terrorism.
He said with the sacrifices of our security forces we have combat the terrorism and the time is not far when there will be lasting peace and stability across the country. He said we had allocated education budget of Rs 10 billion in FATA for the current fiscal year adding that we are spending the huge amount on education sector to provide better education facilities to the tribal students and to improve the standards of education in the tribal areas.
Governor announced the establishment of new auditorium at the cadet college Warsak and also inaugurated the newly constructed academic block at the college. He said we can bring change by investing in our youth and every citizen should contribute and strive for a society based on justice and equality.
He said efforts are being made to provide the better education and training facilities to our students to build their character and improve their livelihood. He said our youth is the precious asset and bright future of the nation. He expressed these views while addressing as the chief guest at the 1st Parents Day ceremony of the Cadet College, Warsak on Monday.
Principal of the College, Colonel Abdul Hannan (Retd) on this occasion presented the annual progress report and also highlighted curricular and extra-curricular activities of the college in detail. Cadet Rafaqat is declared best in academics and Cadet Ihtisham got the prize of overall best cadet of the year while Iqbal House clinched the Governor's champion house trophy. Governor reviewed the Guard of Honour and was impressed by the excellent March Past of the cadets. He also witnessed the PT show and gymnastic. The ceremony was largely attended by senior military and civil officers, besides scores of cadets and their parents.
While addressing the ceremony, the governor said education facilities should be provided to our youth in accordance with the modern standards and in line with the national values. So that, they can protect and promote our cultural values and can better represent our country throughout the world. He said the whole nation was committed to fully value the immortal sacrifices of our security forces and our innocent children with the highest esteem. He vowed to continue fight against terrorism and extremism till the complete elimination of every terrorist.
He said that government is making full endeavours to secure the future of our children. He said our youth must be having complete command on latest scientific knowledge and expertise in respective professions in this age of competitiveness. The governor said government is quite conscious of the ground factors in this respect and every possible step will be taken to ensure better future of the country to fulfil the aspirations of the nation. He maintained that the Government is fully realising the fact and its responsibility and all-out efforts are being made for the bright future of the nation in line with wishes and expectations of the masses.
He called upon the cadets to prepare themselves for the future challenges and fully concentrate on their study during their stay in the college for this very important purpose. He continued that it is his heartiest desire that this prestigious institution should go forward in the same way and play its due role in the rapid development of the country. Congratulating the parents of the cadets, the Governor said, role of quality institutions is of great importance in materialising of their aspirations possible.
He on this occasion announced Rs 1 million for the FC Foundation for the welfare of the cadet college Warsak. The Governor said that the students are the precious assets and future of the nation and their successes are indeed the result of the endeavours and sacrifices of their parents and faculty members and credit goes to this institution.
Earlier, the Principal of the College, Colonel Abdul Hannan (Retd) welcoming the Governor and the guests highlighted achievements of the college and said that their institution has maintained it credit of being best institution of the area by clinching the positions of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.
