The contempt of court proceedings against a private television channel's chief executive Salman Iqbal was adjourned on Monday till the constitution of new bench. The hearing was adjourned for two reasons: firstly a member of the bench Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry will retire on December 17; secondly, Iqbal failed to appear before the Supreme Court on medical grounds.
At the onset of the hearing, advocate Anwar Mansoor Khan submitted that his client was on his way to appear before the court but suddenly felt pain in his chest and began vomiting and he was immediately shifted to hospital. A three-member bench led by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan dictated order in the case and said as one of its member Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry of the bench was going to retire on December 17, a new bench for hearing the proceeding in the instant case would be constituted. Hearing of the matter was adjourned till January 14, 2016.
