The Karachi Port handled 169,082 tonnes of cargo comprising 210,452 tonnes of import cargo and 58,630 tonnes of export cargo including 7,249 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 210,452 tonnes comprised of 95,891 tonnes of containerised cargo; 22,942 tonnes of general cargo; 32,062 tonnes of bulk cargo: 30,021 tonnes of DAP; 2,041 tonnes of SB meal and 59,557 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 58,630 tonnes comprised of 47,689 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of general cargo; 10,741 tonnes of bulk cargo: 5,990 tonnes of rice and 4,751 tonnes of stone. As many as 7,249 containers comprising of 3,226 containers import and 4,023 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,195 of 20's and 860 of 40's loaded while 185 of 20's and 63 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 974 of 20's and 369 of 40's loaded containers while 219 of 20's and 1,046 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were fourteen ships namely Hyundai Confidence, Wan Hai-503, Bahamas, Al Abdali, Batam Trader, Express Euphrates, Malhari, Carpe Diem-II, Bunga Laurel, United Star, Interlink Probity, BBC Delaware, Ocean Gem and Ken Wave carrying containers, oil tankers, SB meal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were fourteen vessels viz. Batam Trader, Express Euphrates, Ponente, Hyundai Paramount, Bunga Laurel, SC Zhuhai, Al Mahboobah, Eastern Star, BBC Delaware, Ocean Gem, Ken Wave, Vega Lea, KSL Anyang and Pacific Bright carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, cement and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely Hyundai Paramount, SC Zhuhai, Farmosa Falcon, Al Mahboobah and Pacific Bright carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday while another ship namely Ponente carrying containers is expected to sail on Tuesday. There were six vessels viz. ACX Crystal, Sims Prestige, Stolt Stream, MT Karachi, Sea Merchant and Ismail Deeb carrying containers, oil tankers, cement and rock phosphate due to arrive on Monday while three vessels viz. YM Enlightenment, MT Lahore and Efficiency OL carrying containers, oil tanker and steel respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
