SC rejects apology by Sindh IG

10 Dec, 2015

The Supreme Court on Wednesday turned down an unconditional apology of IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali for failing to implement court's directives in letter and spirit. The Apex Court had issued a contempt notice to Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh in a matter relating to Saifullah Phulphoto, who was inducted in Sindh police as an ASI in 1995 and then was promoted as inspector in grade-16. During 2000, he joined Anti Corruption department as assistant director (grade-17) on deputation where he secured promotion as deputy director.
In 2013, the Supreme Court declared the absorption void and reverted him to parent department but after some time the provincial government again sent him to Anti-Corruption department on deputation in violation of court's directives. During the course of proceedings, IGP admitted that Saifullah Phulphoto was illegally sent to Anti-Corruption department and tendered an unconditional apology. However, the court declined the apology and decided to frame charges against him during the next date of hearing. The case was adjourned till a date in office.
