SMEDA's performance reviewed

Federal Minister for Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi has said Small & Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) has a pivotal role to play to promote small businesses and enterprises throughout the country. He said that while chairing 15th meeting of the Board of Director of SMEDA.
Minister welcomed the new members to the board and expressed his hope that new member will play their effective role in the best interest of the nation. He directed the SMEDA authorities to expend their presence throughout the country, especially in the un-served and under-served region and to encourage and facilitate the educated youth to start their own businesses. Minister was of the view that self employment is best solution to unemployment problem and SMEDA has a vital role toward achieving this goal.
A number of agenda item came under discussion in the board meeting that including the budget of SMEDA, disposal of old material and vehicles, pay, promotion and recruitment rules of SMEDA and expansion of the SMEDA up to Azad Jamu & Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and FATA regions. Earlier, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) SMEDA gave a detailed briefing on the performance and achievements of SMEDA. Board also had a threadbare discussion on the SMEDA performance and emphasized the need to expended SMEDA's outreach to remote areas.
Board also approved the opening up of regional offices in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and Fata, to help and facilitate people there as well. According to an official statement Board also reviewed and evaluated the implementation on the decision taken in the last board meeting and expressed its satisfaction. Board appreciated the SMEDA supporting role, pre-feasibilities and facilitation provided to people on regard to PM Youth Business Loan Scheme.-PR
