The Election Commission of Pakistan to ensure free, fair and transparent by-elections in NA-154 schedule on December 23 has decided to depute Pakistan Army inside and outside polling stations. The ECP said that the decision was made in view of the prevailing law and order situation in the constituency.
Keeping in view the prevailing circumstances, Pakistan Army Personnel will be deployed one day before the polling day at every polling station, it said.
The ECP said it is fully aware of its all constitutional obligations that are performed according to the established laws and rules.
It said the Commission cannot bend itself or law to please one or the other interested party. It is unfortunate that institutions are criticised for personal interests that should be avoided in the best interest of democratic polity and all responsible public office holders should show respect to the institutions.
