Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Younas M Bashir on Tuesday inaugurated '11th Build Asia - International Building & Construction Industry Exhibition' here at the Expo Centre. Speaking at the event, he said that the construction industry was rising as a big industry and the participation of foreign companies in this event was encouraging for the local industry.
He said that the main issue being faced by the construction industry was lack of utilities but the ray of hope was that the provincial and federal governments had realised the importance of this industry. He asked the government to take effective steps towards facilitating the construction industry as it had the capacity to increase exports and improve the overall economy.
He further said: "Slowly and steadily, foreign companies are considering Pakistan, specially Karachi, as a safe place to do business and that too with a lot of potential". He also congratulated the organisers of the event where everyone from the building and construction industry was gathered under one roof along with 125 foreign participants.
The event was also attended by Khalid Feroz, Director, Arfeen International, Maximati Gromakov, chief expert, Trade Commission of Russia, Murad Nemati Commercial Attache, Consulate of Iran and Rudy Kurniady Counsellor, Consulate General of Indonesia.
