The Chinese government will provide Rs 94 million additional funds to Earthquake Reconstruction, Rehabilitation Authority (Erra) to equip Baffa Tehsil Headquarters Hospital with modern facilities and up-gradation of Government Higher Secondary School Baffa, District Mansehra. In this regard, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Erra and Anhui Construction Company on behalf of Chinese government here on Monday.
The ceremony was attended by Chinese Embassy Economic and Commercial Councilor and senior officials of Erra including Erra Acting Deputy Chairman. On the occasion Acting Deputy Chairman Erra Brigadier Abu Bakr Bajwa thanked China for Rs 94 million funds to build additional facilities in Baffa Hospital and school. He also recalled Chinese government, its people strong support after October 8, 2005 massive earthquake.
At the signing ceremony Li Shaoton (Embassy Counsellor) Economic & Commercial Office reiterated its government commitment to continue support for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of earthquake affected areas in Khyber Phaktunkhuwa and Azad Kashmir. He said China government soon after devastated earthquake played its due role for building two grand facilities in Baffa Mansehra which included fully equipped 40 bedded Tehsil Headquarters Hospital at Baffa that cost Rs 412.5 million. He added that Chinese government also built government Higher Secondary School Baffa which cost Rs 487.5 million to impart education for 720 students.
Acting Deputy Chairman Erra also appreciated Chinese government for Rs 94 million aid to carry out additional work ie THQ Baffa / GHSS Baffa which include Waste Water Treatment Unit, Medical Waste Burning Facility (Hospital), Drainage for the hospital, Provision for Voltage Stabiliser in hospital and provision for Voltage Stabiliser in school.
