Opposition parties to form grand alliance: Wattoo

22 Dec, 2015

The PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo has said that the opposition parties in the Punjab Assembly, as well as independent members had decided to form a grand alliance against the government. He said that an opposition coalition is in the offing in Punjab as the Pakistan Peoples' Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Pakistan Muslim League - Quaid (PML-Q), Jamat-e-Islami and independent Punjab Assembly members have discussed the formation of a grand alliance against Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) government.
He has revealed that efforts are underway to form a grand political alliance in Punjab to protest against the government's anti-people policies. "The grand alliance would include the PTI, the PML-Q, the JI and all other independent members in the Punjab Assembly and the talks for the grand alliance are underway on fast track" he added.
He maintained that the alliance would fully register their protest inside and outside the Punjab assembly, adding that the PML-N government has miserably failed to provide relief to commoner, and its unjust and anti-people policies forced political parties to form a grand opposition alliance in the Punjab Assembly.
Wattoo has also said the government was not paying attention to the needs of the citizens, and the government's cruel tax policy, growing corruption in the Punjab's departments/offices, political intemperance, energy crises and failure to maintain law and order situation had forced to make a grand alliance. He lambasted the government and stated that people were continuously protesting against the government policies, but it was not ready to change its course. He declared that the PPP would not leave the people of Punjab alone and would stand by them and defend their rights.
