Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has completed the contract namely KC-06A (2R) - one of the components of Kachhi Canal Project - on time despite unfavourable working conditions due to adverse law and order situation in the area and limited working hours. The project authorities have also managed to save about Rs 500 million in this contract due to usage of silt deposited in the canal prism, declared as suitable for construction of the canal banks and protection bunds.
WAPDA General Manager (Central) Water Ghulam Abbas Anjum informed this during a meeting of the Authority held at WAPDA House on Monday. The meeting, presided over by WAPDA Chairman Zafar Mahmood, was also attended by WAPDA Member (Water) Muhammad Shoaib Iqbal, Member (Finance) Anwar-ul-Haq, Secretary WAPDA Amer Ahmad, Project Director Hassan Mehr, Project Manager Irfan Ullah Marwat and other senior officers concerned.
WAPDA appreciated the efforts of the project authorities for timely completion of the said contract and saving about Rs 500 million to the national exchequer. The Authority also directed the project management to expedite their efforts for completion of the Part-A of the Phase-I of Kachhi Canal Project, scheduled to be completed by the end of October 2016.
