Federal Minister for Railways Kh Saad Rafique has claimed that income of Business Express train has been increased to Rs 3.2 million daily which is Rs one million additional income after transfer of its management to the Pakistan Railways from the private sector.
He said this train was earning only Rs 2.2 million daily but since it was taken over by Railways its daily income has increased. The minister stated this while presiding over a high-level meeting on Monday to review the performance of Pakistan Railways and its future needs with regard to locomotives, rolling stock and infrastructure in view of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor connectivity. He further said that three trains - Business Express, Karachi Express, and Pakistan Express would be upgraded in different phases during the current fiscal year.
The upgradation of the Parlor Coaches was also discussed in the meeting. Anjum Pervaiz, Advisor Railways, Gulam Mustafa, Member Finance, Additional General Manager Infrastructure Humayun Rasheed, Additional General Manager Mechinical Liaqat Chaugati, Chief Marketing Manager Abdul Hameed Razi and other high official were also present on the occasion.
