At least eight people were killed and 20 injured in a head-on collision between passenger bus and two Hiace vans due to dense fog at 9-Kassi on Vehari Road in Multan on Thursday. The condition of six persons is stated to be serious. Police said that eight passengers died on the spot and injured were removed to Nishtar Hospital where their condition is stated to be serious. CPO Multan Azhar Akram said that it was an outcome of reckless driving Rescue sources said the injured were rushed to hospital where the condition of several people is said to be critical.
The death toll may rise in the incident, they added. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the loss of lives and directed for providing best medical facilities to the injured. The passengers, who killed in the accident, were identified as Imran (32), Muzaffar Iqbal (23), Muhammad Yousaf (32), Abdul Ghafar (52), Muhammad Imran (35), Hiace van driver Kashif Ali (28) and two unidentified persons. They all belonged to Mailsi town of Vehari district.
