Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Friday night expressed his satisfaction over the success of PML-N candidates in recent local bodies' elections in Sialkot district. The success of PML-N candidates was the result of Prime Minister's polices and popularity of Pakistan Muslim League-N among the people of the country, he said.
Addressing the newly elected Chairmen, Vice Chairmen of different Union Councils, MNAs and MPAs the Defence Minister furthers stated that the regular functioning local bodies institutions will not only help in further strengthen the democracy and democratic institutions of the country but also help empower the masses at grassroots level.
Asif said that a large number of elected independent candidates had joined the PML-N which reflects that they had endorsed the polices of PML-N-led government adding that local bodies institutions would be able to resolve their issues at local level and minimize the role of the government.
People across the country were backing the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's policies for bringing country out of crisis and tracking it on right track for the prosperity and development as well as stamping out the poverty on top priority basis, Asif said. The minister said the PML-N leadership was endeavouring for making the country stable and tracking it on right direction for bringing revolutionary changes in every sphere of life in the country.
The Defence Minister said with active co-operation and support of the masses the country would be made developed and prosper and development plans of the PML-N government would open new vista of development and prosperity. The people had rejected the negative politics and extend their full support to PML-N for bringing radical change in every sphere of life, he added.
About the nomination of Chairman and Vice Chairman Zila Council, he said it would be decided in near future and decision would be made in best interest of the people and district Sialkot. Asif urged upon the newly elected members that they should work for the betterment of the people and development of the district with honestly, missionary zeal and commitment. MNAs Choudary Armaghan Subbhani, Zahid Hamid, Syed Iftikhar Ul Hssan and Rana Shamim Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
