Members of Non-governmental Organisations have urged the government to pay attention to agriculture sector and provide subsidy and loans to growers. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, office-bearers of NGOs namely Mazhar Abro, Aijaz Mallah, Sualah Koso and Taj Mari said that since 1960 the slogans of green revolution had been raised in Pakistan but nothing had been done for the welfare and betterment of peasants.
"Due to hardworking of rural people, we are leading a comfortable life and we always easily forget their efforts of labour which is injustice with them." They added, "While formulating policies we are ignoring agro-based community and added that we must realise their problems."
They observed that livestock, which had a great importance in agriculture sector, should be promoted as it could improve the quality of life in rural areas. They said that main cause of the migration of the people from rural areas to cities is due to lack of basic facilities. They stressed upon the enhancement of agricultural production through providing better qualities of seeds so that the farmers could get good price for their products.
