No doubt, Meezan Bank (MB) has credit to introduce Islamic Banking (IB) in Pakistan but it was spreading at a much faster pace and it was still under pressing demand to open new branches even after opening more than 500 branches across the country, said Anwar A Sheikh, General Manager of MB. Inaugurating PMC branch of MB here onMonday, he said that Faisalabad can also take pride in having first Islamic Branch of Meezan Bank in 2001 which was inaugurated by later Alhaj Bashir Ahmed father of Mian Muhammad Adrees President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
He said that the business community of Faisalabad has clear inclination towards Islam and prefer Islamic Banking. In view of the demand of local business community, MB has now opened 24th branch in Faisalabad alone while another branch would also be opened very soon in Dhuddiwala. He further said the government and State Bank of Pakistan are also extending full cooperation for the promotion of Islamic Banking and it was in this respect that MB has now more than 500 branches in Pakistan.
He also thanked the people for reposing trust in Islamic Banking and said that MB was helping to survive equally in this world and the world hereafter by switching over to the Islamic Banking. The function was also attended by leading businessmen and industrialists including Rizwan Sehgol and Bilal Qasuri.
