The Karachi Port handled 105,254 tonnes of cargo comprising 83,604 tonnes of import cargo and 21,650 tonnes of export cargo including 4,173 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 83,604 tonnes comprised of 28,375 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10 tonnes of general cargo; 36,680 tonnes of bulk cargo: 31,146 tonnes of coal; 5,534 tonnes of DAP and 18,539 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 21,650 tonnes comprised of 18,397 tonnes of containerised cargo and 3,253 tonnes of rice. As many as 4,173 containers comprising of 1,947 containers import and 2,226 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The break-up of imported containers shows 729 of 20's and 609 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 421 of 20's and 282 of 40's loaded containers while 393 of 20's and 424 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Hansa Neuburg, ACX Diamond, Al Mahboobah and Alwine Oldendrorff carrying containers, chemical and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Batam Trader, ACX Diamond, Priya, Mariann and San Rafael carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There are two ships namely Nicolas-A and San Rafael carrying DAP and general cargo respectively on Thursday.
There were two vessels viz. Cosco Wellington and Northern Power carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday while nine vessels viz. Hyundai Freedom, Al Abdali, A Idefix, Cosco Osaka, Zhong Da You-56, Delice, Abu Al Abyad, Al Messilah and Chang Hang Huai carrying containers, oil tankers, rock phosphate, cattle and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
