Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday presented a book titled 'Majestic Pakistan' to his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe, at its launch ceremony held here. The two prime ministers joined the launch of trilingual book - in English, Sinhalese and Tamil languages - at an event organised here by Pakistan High Commission in Colombo. A Pakistan-Sri Lanka Friendship Anthem prepared by Pakistan High Commission was also launched on the occasion.
The event was attended among others by Begum Kalsoom Nawaz, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan, Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, National Security Advisor Lieutenant General Nasir Khan Janjua (Retd) and Pakistan's High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Major General Syed Shakil Hussain (Retd). Sri Lanka's First Lady was also present on the occasion. Later, Prime Minister Sharif and Prime Minister Wickremesinghe along with other dignitaries attended the dinner reception hosted by Pakistan High Commission, Colombo.
The 'Majestic Pakistan' book is a compilation of photographs depicting the beautiful scenery of different areas of Pakistan and is aimed at promoting the country's tourism abroad. The book also highlights about Pakistan being home to old Buddhist civilisation, which is held in high esteem in Sri Lanka's socio-religious culture.
