Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (ORGRA) will determine the final price of the RLNG (Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas) within next two weeks after completion of public hearing process in this regard. Chairman OGRA Saeed Ahmed Khan said this while talking to media men at a public hearing regarding RLNG's final/prescribed price at a local hotel on Monday. The OGRA Member (Gas) Aamir Naseem and Member (Finance) Noorul Haq were also present.
Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) filed their petitions demanding increase in the provisional price of the RLNG determined by the OGRA on October 7, 2015. The petitioners pleaded that with the giving RLNG price, they were unable to meet their service and other expenses, therefore, the price margin shell be enhanced to create a breathing space for them.
However, the consumers, interveners, general public and interested/affected persons and parties including the LPG Association of Pakistan, LCCI (Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry), the APTMA (All Pakistan Textile Mills Association) furnished their comments /interventions against the demand of all the three petitioners. They strongly opposed the increase in the provisional price of the RLNG, stating that they would be rendered helpless to maintain their businesses or to keep their industrial units operational with high cost of energy, the basic and very important component of manufacturing inputs.
After hearing both the sides, the OGRA Chairman Saeed Ahmed Khan said that the Authority had also conducted public hearing for RLNG final price at Karachi on December 28, 2015, adding that the OGRA would take a final decision on the prescribed price of the RLNG within next two weeks after completion of the public hearing process.
