Pakistan's export of gems plunged by a little over 55 percent to $1.713 million in July-November 2015-16, official figures said. Overall gems export fall grows by $2.096 million in July-November 2015-16 from $3.809 million in July-November 2014-15, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics said. In terms of volume, the country's gems export scaled back by 57.14 percent or 4 metric tons to 3 metric tons in July-November 2015-16 from 7 metric tons in July-November 2014-15.
In November 2015, gems export dipped by 54 percent or $0.601 million to $522,000 from $1.123 million in November 2014. Quantity of gems export slid by 50 percent or 1 metric tons to 1 metric ton in November 2015 from 2 metric tons in November 2014. Jewellery export went down by 3 percent or $0.091 million to $3.032 million in July-November 2015-16 from $3.123 million in July-November 2014-15. In November 2015, jewellery export surged by 14.35 million or $69, 000 to $550,000 from $481,000 in November 2014.
