Karachi Port: 22,000 kgs of pyrotechnic explosives seized

Directorate General, Intelligence & Investigation-FBR (Customs Enforcement), Karachi on Thursday claimed to have seized 22,000 kilograms of pyrotechnic explosives from Karachi port. According to officials, the action was taken on a tipoff, which revealed that huge quantity of pyrotechnic explosives lying in a container at Karachi Port.
Reacting on the information, the team has detained a container number CBHU-8570130, which was arrived from China and lying at Karachi Port since November 20, 2015, they said and added that importer did not get the said consignment cleared following the detention of two such containers by Customs Intelligence, Peshawar. On information of presence of third container at Karachi Port, the staff of the Directorate General (Customs Enforcement) and Customs Collectorate jointly examined the container which resulted in recovery of 22,000 kilograms of explosive material, which is said to be used for pyrotechnics. Further investigations are underway.
