Corrupt people can't ensure accountability: Monnoo Bhai

11 Jan, 2016

Corrupts in power can't ensure accountability. Pakistani nation again and again expects good results from those who deceived in the past. Every citizen should know that positive change is not happened by just wishing it but it can be achieved through a tough practical struggle. Whenever we are not able to thoroughly know our real socio-economic problems we can't find their solutions.
These thoughts were shared by eminent writer, columnist and intellectual Monnoo Bhai through his poetry during a Fikri Nashist at TECH Society Club on the topic "Pakistan's problems and their solutions according to an intellectual" on Sunday. Manzoor A. Shaikh, Dr Muhammad Sadiq and Jameel Gishkori also spoke. A large number of intellectuals, writers and analysts like Qayyum Nizami, Professor Dr Atiya Syed, Mahmudur Rehman Chughtai, Zubair Sheikh, Dr Hasibullah, Salman Abid, Syed Mahfooz Qutub and others were also present.
Monnoo Bhai said terrorism is the first problem of Pakistan and then poverty. Middle class is downtrodden, he added. Only corrupts having enough black money can take part in elections and there is no way for a competent and honest person to compete with such mafia. He claimed that if 26% of GDP is spent in real terms on people of Pakistan it can become Europe. Accountability is required everywhere but with real justice and quick implementation on decisions. Women can bring a positive change in Pakistan society if she as a mother, sister and wife is given full protection, education and courage, Monnoo Bhai anticipated.
Salman Abid commenting on the present situation of Pakistan said that solutions are not made as quick as problems are appeared in Pakistan. Quoting the recent incidents of Iran-Saudi conflict and Pathankot incidences Salman said Pakistan's Foreign Office is in quite difficult situation. On the other hand Pak-China Economic Corridor is facing criticism from two important provinces of Pakistan and there is a fear that this project might not prove to be another Kalabagh type venture. China has also showed his concerns about the early internal conflict resolution of Pak-China Economic Corridor project by Pakistan, he added. Salman Abid said if good governance is not ensured extremism will not be reduced in the country.
