United States Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale Tuesday discussed early holding of Pak-US Working Group on Economy and Finance and agreed the recent visit to the US by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gave tremendous boost to Pak-US cooperation.
He was accompanied by Professional Staff Member of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, Dr Anish Goel, during a call on Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar,said a statement issued by Ministry of Finance On his part, Dr Goel discussed the current state of Pak-US economic relations and said that there was complete unanimity of views in the US on enhancing economic cooperation and establishing strong relationship with Pakistan.
Dr Goel said Pakistan''s achievements were appreciated in the US and added that Pak-US cooperation would further grow in future. During the meeting Finance Minister shared the details of economic achievements of the government in the last two and half years through a series of reforms. He also briefed the visitor about the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
He said 22 top level international institutions had acknowledged the economic turnaround Pakistan had achieved and added that Pakistan, after gaining economic stability, was now firmly set on the path of economic growth. The Finance Minister also apprised the delegation about the impact of ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb and added that Pakistan was now also simultaneously focusing on efforts for rehabilitation of the temporarily displaced persons. The Minister said Pakistan had suffered over US $100 billion worth of economic losses in the long drawn war on terror. He said that Pakistan''s sacrifices in the war on terror were not fully appreciated.
