This is apropos a news item 'Govt mulling offering amnesty to Bugti, others' carried by Business Recorder yesterday. According to it, the government is mulling granting amnesty to exiled separatist Baloch leaders including Brahumdagh Khan Bugti, for which Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri is likely to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief General Raheel Sharif next month to get their approval, it was learnt.
Quoting the provincial government sources privy to the development, the news item said that the 'deal' has been shared with the exiled Baloch leaders but on the condition that they should shun anti-state activities and join the political struggle for the betterment of the province and Pakistan.
That the government seems to have taken a right approach to a linger issue is a widely held impression. Mainstreaming disgruntled Baloch will be one of the greatest successes of the present PML-N government. It is, therefore, about time that the government took all appropriate steps aimed at easing concerns of Balochistan on the western route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
