Karachi Port's activities

The Karachi Port handled 126,392 tonnes of cargo comprising 95,396 tonnes of import cargo and 30,996 tonnes of export cargo including 6,850 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 95,396 tonnes comprised of 59,948 tonnes of containerised cargo; 64 tonnes of general cargo; 9,104 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,610 tonnes of coal; 2,494 tonnes of steel scrap and 26,280 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,996 tonnes comprised of 24,405 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,891 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,602 tonnes of cement; 1,289 tonnes of stone and 1,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,850 containers comprising of 4,109 containers import and 2,741 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,605 of 20's and 1,119 of 40's loaded while 20 of 20's and 123 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 737 of 20's and 201 of 40's loaded containers while 1,010 of 20's and 296 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were three ships namely YM Enlightenment, Galene-M and Agata-M carrying containers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Robert Rickmers, Tian Li He, Northern Power, Hyundai Confidence, Scot Stuttgart, Amis Ace, IVS Kawana and Glorious Kauri carrying containers, oil tanker, canola and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were four ships namely Robert Rickmers, Northern Power, Agros and Scot Stuttgart carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea on Friday while four ships namely Tian Li He, Hyundai Confidence, Bunga Lucerne and Cartagena carrying containers, chemical and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Saturday. There was one vessel viz. Saehan Estrella carrying oil tanker due to arrive on Friday while four vessels viz. UAFL Zanzibar, X-Press Euphrates, Hanjin Indigo and APL Agate carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
