Ignominious defeat of Pakistan Twenty20 cricket team in the three matches international series against New Zealand exposed the failure of the relevant authorities in building a strong and winning team. Easy-ride of Kiwis proved tall claims of the management, about hectic preparations of Team Pakistan ahead of mega event in India, untrue.
Critics told the Business Recorder here Saturday that the performance of Team Pakistan in series against New Zealand should be an eye opener for the team management, selectors and PCB administration while a couple of months left for ICC World T20. They noted that Pakistani players committed some very basic mistakes. There was no harm in changing the strategy and reshuffling batting order but no team was seen in the last two matches.
"Pakistan was clearly lacking tactically, in planning and strategy, which proved disastrous," said Aamir Sohail, former Pakistani skipper. He expressed disappointment at Pakistan's back to back thrashing. Former Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf demanded sacking of the entire support staff of the national team besides dissolving the national selection committee and PCB cricket committee after the dismal performance of the team in T20 series. "Team Pakistan's think-tank comprising selectors, support staff and the cricket committee is responsible for the debacle of our team in New Zealand and they all should be sacked immediately for the poor show," he proposed.
