Additional Secretary (Technical) Forests, Shahid Rasheed Awan has said that look after of forests on scientific lines is the need of the hour and Forests Department is conducting training courses for its officers so that they could discharge their responsibilities in efficient manner.
He expressed these views while addressing the concluding ceremony of a 6-day training course held under the aegis of Punjab Forestry Research Institute and Geographical Information System Lab Lahore at Forests Department Cooper Road, here on Sunday.
Shahid Awan stressed upon officers of first batch of the course to use their training in the field and ensure look after of forests areas on scientific basis. He said that implementation of geographical system and satellite remote sensing will not only result in identification of the land of Forests Department but also help in mapping and management of the land.
Shahid Awan said that practical use of the training given in this regard will help in preparing development projects, conservation of forests, better planning and overcoming problems like seasonal changes. He said that all officers of the province will be trained regarding geographical information system and through utilising this technology, they will be able to perform their field duties more efficiently.
Associate Professor Dr Mian Muhammad Awais also addressed the concluding ceremony of training course, and distributed certificates among the participants and appreciated their performance and the interest taken in the course.
Chief Conservator Forests Muhammad Afzal Basit, Conservator Forests Development Working Plan Lahore Circle Mehr Muhammad Yousaf and Director Punjab Forestry Research Institute Dr Muhammad Afzal besides other officers were also present on the occasion.
