Teachers of Government Nazareth Girls Degree College Hyderabad under the banners of Sindh Professors Lecturers Association (SPLA) protested against alleged rude attitude adopted by the college principal. Carrying banners and shouting slogans against the principal outside the local press club on Tuesday, they demanded of Sindh government to remove the principal immediately. SPLA president Shahjahan Panhwer and other office-bearers of SPLA were present.
It was led by college lecturers including Shaista Baloch, Pervez Bughio and others. They said that Government Nazareth Girls Degree College Hyderabad principal Shahidah Parveen Abro had been maltreating and bullying all teaching and administration staff since when she took over the charge of the college over a year. They said that the principal threatened and insulted teachers before students.
They appealed to the government to remove the principal or they (teachers) must be transferred to other colleges of Hyderabad. They said that it was enough to tolerate her rude attitude any more. SPLA president Shahjahan Panhwar blamed that the principal took Rs 100 from each students and staff for three-day Mina Bazaar in December 2014 and also took commissions from stalls set up. He also alleged that the principal also organised culture programme in January where students were forced to sing and dance. He said that there were 2,000 students and around 80 staff of the college. He also said that the principal had 19-grade and had been working on the post of 20-grade as principal of the college.
