Pakistan Super League (PSL) would be instrumental in strengthening the cricket system, provision of international exposure to our domestic players and patronage to our young players while all five franchises of the League have made all the payment to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). This was revealed in the 39th PCB Board of Governors meeting held here at the National Cricket Academy with Chairman of the board Shaharyar M. Khan in the chair.
Shaharyar said that prospect of revival of international cricket would be quite bright and Afghanistan cricket team to visit Pakistan soon. He said that PSL would have deep impact in strengthening domestic cricket system in Pakistan. He said that Misbahul Haq and Younis Khan have been appointed adviser to the PCB Chairman. The board will continue to benefit from the expert opinion of these eminent cricketers in the decision making process of game development in the country, he said.
He said that Misbahul Haq and Younis Khan views for the promotion of cricket would give strong impetus in the development of cricket. PCB would undertake major initiative in strengthening domestic cricket, human resource development and attaining optimum level of efficiency, he added. He said that comprehensive audit mechanism is being adopted in order to attain effective financial management and accountability. Chairman Executive Committee & Chairman Governing Council PSL Najam Sethi apprised the board that comprehensive administrative and operational mechanism has been evolved to execute a project of PSL being held from 4th February to 24th February at the UAE.
He further said that complete transparency and operational efficiency would be the dominant feature of implementation mechanism of this gigantic initiative of PCB. He informed the board that all five franchises have made all the payment to PCB and no outstanding dues exist on their part. Chairman Cricket Committee Shakil Sheikh briefed the board about the various steps taken for the promotion of domestic cricket in the country. He said that for the first time fitness based trials took place at the inter-regional under-19 with the age verification of players for selection of regional teams in the country. Among others, the meeting was attended by Zafar Mehmood, Chairman Wapda, Shakil Ahmed Shaikh, Chairman Cricket Committee, Gul Zada, Peshawar Region, Professor Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi, Karachi Region, Major (R) Naeem Akhtar Gillani, Rawalpindi Region, Amjad Latif, SNGPL, and Secretary IPC Muhammad Ali Gardezi.
