Shahdra Kroll Forest: government to carry out tree plantation over 600 acres: minister

The Punjab minister for forests, wildlife and fisheries has claimed tree plantation over 600 acres of land of the Shahdra Kroll Forest in Lahore, with wild and ornamental plants of 30 being planted. Minister, Malik Muhammad Asif Bha Awan speaking with media men during his visit to the Shahdra Forest and the Forest Colony on the Ravi Road, claimed the tree plantation in this forest would be carried out on more than 50 acres of land till the end of 2016 and "this forest will be shaped into a complete recreational park".
He said 15 tube-wells had been installed for irrigating these plants. "Ornamental plants have been planted at roadsides on the pattern of a recreational park during the tree plantation. A four-kilometre long jogging path has also been constructed for visitors, whereas 15 tube-wells have also been installed for irrigation and other requirements," he said.
