Karachi Port's activities

The Karachi Port handled 98,262 tonnes of cargo comprising 66,525 tonnes of import cargo and 31,737 tonnes of export cargo including 3,704 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 66,525 tonnes comprised of 20,708 tonnes of containerised cargo; 38,866 tonnes of general cargo; 4,859 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,150 tonnes of steel scrap; 3,700 tonnes of scrap broken part and 2,092 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,737 tonnes comprised of 24,151 tonnes of containerised cargo and 7,586 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,704 containers comprising of 1,606 containers import and 2,098 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The break-up of imported containers shows 388 of 20's and 542 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 67 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 620 of 20's and 353 of 40's loaded containers while 584 of 20's and 94 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely APL Pearl, OEL Dubai, KMTC Mumbai, Kota Kamil, SC Champion-XL, Chemroute Sky and Asia Emerald-III carrying containers, oil tankers and steel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Sima Prestige, ACX Crystal, YM Excellence, CT Ace, Blue April, Royal Emerald, Atlantic Pegasus, Ariel and Eraclea carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely ACX Crystal and APJ Jai carrying containers and steel respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday while three ships namely Sima Prestige, Moonray and Eraclea carrying containers, steel and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday. There were two vessels viz. UACC Shams and Chemstar Masa carrying mogas and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while four vessels viz. Cosco Wellington, Batam Trader, Olympic Spirit-II and Mimasaka carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
