This is apropos 'Key Corridor motorway inaugurated' carried by Business Recorder yesterday. According to it, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the Rs 13 billion Gwadar-Turbat-Hoshab Road (M-8) that would link Gwadar Port with Quetta and serve as a vital part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The 193km long highway would connect the western, central and eastern routes of the CPEC with the Gwadar Port.
That the economic corridor is increasingly becoming a stark reality is a fact that has found its best expression in the completion of this key motorway (M8). One must not lose sight of the fact that the army chief, General Raheel Sharif, has repeatedly described this historic development project as 'a national obligation'. No doubt, the completion of the economic corridor is a national obligation. Hence the need for taking every possible step towards completion of this project.
