Punjab Assembly passes LG Amendment Bill

Punjab Assembly in its 19th session here on Thursday passed 'The Punjab Local Government (First Amendment) Bill 2016'. The assembly further passed 'The Punjab Local Government (Second Amendment) Bill 2016'. Opposition legislators protesting on the passing of the bills made a walkout from the session. Amendments in the two passed bills were recommended by standing committees on Local Government and Rural Development.
During question-answer session, the minister Auqaf said that total income of Data Darbar (RA) in 2014-15(May-July) period remained at Rs 24, 20, 47,098. He said that a total of 40 cash boxes have been kept in saint's mausoleum. In reply to a question he said that in Gujrat 738 kanal 16 Marla Waqf property has been under the supervision of Auqaf Department.
There was 213 kanal area is under the supervision of Auqaf in Daska. He said 169 kanal-13 Marla of this area is under lease. The Minister Excise and Taxation in reply to a question said that licences to sell liquor had been given to Pearl Continental Hotel, Flashman hotel and Pearl Continental Hotel Bhurban in Rawalpindi. In district Rawalpindi, 3,588 permits of liquor had been issued, the minister added.
He said that licences to sell liquor (L-2) have been issued to four hotels in Lahore. He said these licences have been issued to Pearl Continental Lahore, Avari Hotel, Hospitality Inn and Ambassador Hotel Davis Road. He further said that in Punjab real estate agents and motor dealers need to register under 'The Punjab Real Estate Agents & Motor Vehicles Dealer (Regulation of Business Ordinance1960). The session was later adjourned by the chair.
