KE accelerates Operation Burq

K-Electric's team under accelerated Operation Burq has been conducting effective raids 24/7 in different parts of the city to curb the menace of power theft. As per details, K-E team conducted 75 raids and confiscated 3,200 illegal connections weighing more than 2,000kg.
In one of the raids at a Call Centre in Gulshan-e-Iqbal 13-C, K-E caught red handed 30kw load of illegal connection. An FIR was launched against the culprit in this case whereas three FIRs were also launched against the electricity thieves in the vicinities of Bhitai Colony and Gulshan-e-Shah Latif in Korangi. A Rozatul Atfal Trust was also raided in the vicinity of Gulshan-e-Iqbal where fake meter was installed and power load of about 12kw was being used illegally. All those involved were penalised by the K-E team.
A raid was carried out against the chronic defaulters in the areas of Orangi, Lyari, Uthal, Baldia and Site. Several hook connections were removed in the multi-storey building due to heavy defaulting while on the spot payment was seen by defaulters in Lyari, Agra Taj and Nayabad areas.
A massive kunda removal operation was also conducted in Shahabuddin Market adjacent Lines Area whereas service station and garment facility were also caught stealing electricity. More raids were conducted in Bin Qasim, Gadap, Johar, Korangi, Landhi, Malir and Shah Faisal against residential and commercial electricity thieves. -PR
