Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) Hamza Shehbaz was appointed on Thursday as the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi issued a written order regarding the appointment of Hamza as the leader of the opposition, local media reported.
The order was issued after a delay in Hamza's appointment. The assembly secretariat had received a complaint regarding forged signatures on the nomination papers. An investigation was launched in this regard and once it was ensured that the signatures were not forged, the Punjab Assembly speaker proceeded with Hamza's appointment.
On August 20, Hamza's father and PML-N's President Shehbaz Sharif was appointed as the opposition leader in the National Assembly.
