Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat were unchanged in the southern US Plains on Thursday, grain merchandisers said. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City fell 5 cents for wheat with 12.0 to 13.2, 13.8 and 14.0 percent protein. Protein premiums fell 8 cents for wheat with 13.4 to 13.6 percent protein on Wednesday.
United States Department of Agriculture reported export sales of US wheat in the week ended January 28 at 66,200 tonnes for old-crop wheat, a marketing year low, and 87,800 tonnes for new-crop. Trade expectations were for 200,000 to 400,000 tonnes. The head of Russia's Anti-Monopoly Service said he was against introducing prohibitive duties on grain, Interfax news agency reported. As of 9:15 am CST (1515 GMT), K.C. hard red winter wheat futures for March delivery was last up 2 cents at $4.70-1/2 a bushel.
