Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has decreased water level in Mangla Dam by 15ft to carry out certain repairs by Wapda engineers. Punjab Irrigation engineers told Business Recorder here on Wednesday that Wapda had requested the water regulatory body to bring down the water level in the Mangla dam for annual repairs of the upgraded reservoir that has the capacity to store 7.5 MAF water.
They said that IRSA had been discharging water downstream the dam up to 60,000 cusecs of water since February 03, bringing down the level from 1182ft to 1169ft on Wednesday. They said water outflow from the Tarbela dam has been reduced to 23,000 cusecs as Punjab Irrigation department has been providing water to Sindh from the Mangla zone downstream the Punjab headwork to meet water needs of Sindh.
