KP government decides to hand over six hydel projects to FWO

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Wednesday decided handing over six hydel power projects having capacity of 719 MW to Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) for efficient implementation and to overcome power shortage in the province. This was decided at a high-level meeting convened to discuss hydel and communication projects in the province at Khyber Pakhtunkhawa House Islamabad.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Provincial Minister for Energy, Muhammad Atif Khan, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, DG FWO Major General Muhammad Afzal and high-ups of Energy, PEDO and Communication Departments attended the meeting. The meeting apart from reviewing of Swat Express Way project also discussed hydel generation schemes and proposed Chamkani to Badaber Bypass road project (Southern bypass) in detail. The Director General FWO informed the meeting that the Chinese government had agreed to provide financial assistance for the implementation of Swat Express Highway and six hydel projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa.
The Chief Minister directed to handing over Balakot, Bata Kondi, Naran, Ghorband, Shagokas and Nandihar hydel power projects to the FWO for implementation under the prescribed rules. He also ordered to complete all codal formalities in this regard soon. Similarly the meeting was also briefed about preparatory arrangements for initiating work on Swat Expressway project.
The Chief Minister while directing to expedite preparatory activities asked the concerned authority to start work on the project in June this year to ensure its completion in December 2017 at every cost. Moreover, the meeting was informed that besides survey, work on preparation of PC-1 of the Chamkani to Badaber bypass road (Southern bypass road) was in full swing.
The Chief Minister directed authorities of Pakhtunkhawa Highway authority to speed up work for acquisition of land for the project. He also ordered to put up a proper summary in this regard shortly. The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhawa directed the concerned authority to accelerate work on developmental projects to ensure its completion in the stipulated time so that people could be benefited from it.
