Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) chief on Monday wrote a letter to the Prime Minister for providing funds for construction of the council's buildings and setting up libraries in federal and provincial capitals. The PBC vice-chairman Barrister Dr Farogh Naseem called upon Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to immediately allot plots along with adequate release of funds so that state of the art buildings and libraries of the Pakistan Bar Council could be constructed at Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta respectively.
Naseem has also called upon Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to issue financial grants or payments to the Pakistan Bar Council so that independent funds could be created for the purposes of legal aid for the poor litigants, old, sick and unemployed lawyers. He said if the funds are not provided then in view of their fundamental rights they will file a petition in the Supreme Court under Article 184 (3) of Constitution.
