Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's remarks against the harassment of government officers and innocent persons at the hands of NAB officials shouldn't be mere eyewash as the attempts to paralyse Sindh government functions through conducting raids in its offices and arrests of officers remain the prime examples crossing the constitutional limits.
"NAB, FIA and some other federal agencies had been targeting a single province, its government and officials in violation of rules since few months but Nawaz Sharif Ministers defended the onslaught and invasions vehemently," pointed out the PPP Chairman in a press statement issued here today. He said that PPP always supported for an across the board accountability without the sacred cow syndrome and within the constitutional parameters formulated for every institutions. However, the NAB and FIA, which is under the control of Nawaz Sharif cabinet jumped beyond their domains in Sindh province and ventured to paralyse working of some departments of provincial government.
Bilawal further said that process of accountability had always been used as a victimisation tool against the PPP in the past while its opponents remained untouched who flourished like mushrooms under the patronage of anti-democratic forces. He stressed that the country needs accountability on vertical and horizontal basis with undoing the sacred cow syndrome instead of holding hostage the political prisoners and grinding them for political purposes.
The PPP Chairman said that all the Parliamentary parties should be taken onboard to remove the loopholes from accountability laws so that innocent and honest people are not victimised for their political affiliations besides safeguarding the provincial autonomy guaranteed by the Constitution.
