Businessmen urged to help expand tax base

Chairman Faisalabad Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (FIEDMC) Mian Muhammad Adrees has said on Friday that business community have to contribute its role in expanding the tax base of Pakistan.
"Each and every person, who earn in excess to the minimum threshold of tax, must pay due share of tax because non-payers are putting their burden on the existing tax payers, "he said speaking at a meeting in Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) to finalize the arrangement of 'Awareness Session on 'Voluntary Tax Compliance Scheme (VTCS) 2016' scheduled to be held on Saturday.
He urged the business leaders to convince the patriotic businessmen to pay their due share of taxes and thus play their role in making Pakistan economically strong and stable.
Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Faisalabad Shad Muhammad told the meeting he tried his best to give due respect to the tax payers in addition to dispelling their undue apprehensions.
"During the last two months, I have disposed off more than 400 audit cases and no complaint from any party has ever been received," he said adding that he was also trying to convince those paying less taxes to increase the ratio of their taxes. He expressed hope his course of action would yield positive results.
Chaudhary Muhammad Nawaz President FCCI said that he was holding a series of meetings with local business leaders to identify their genuine problems and convincing them to participate in 'Awareness Session of VTCS' on February 20, 2016.
The meeting was also attended by Syed Zia Alamdar Hussain, senior vice president, Rao Sikandar Azam Khan, Chaudhary Talat Mehmood, Chaudhary Muhammad Asghar, Naseer Vohra, Haji Aslam Bhatti, Mehmood Alam Jatt and other members.
