One person has died, three are missing and five are in hospital following the collapse of part of a disused power station in Didcot, southern England on Tuesday, the fire service said. "I can confirm search operations are in progress and that there has been one fatality, five persons have been taken to hospital and three persons are currently missing," Mat Carlile of the Thames Valley Fire Control Service said.
The power station, which closed in 2013, had three large cooling towers that were demolished in 2014. The rest of the station is being decommissioned. Fire crews were called to the scene at 1604 GMT following the collapse of part of the station. Video posted on social media appeared to show large clouds of dust or smoke rising from the scene.
